Installing the child theme

A child theme inherits MyListing’s design and functionality while giving you a safe place for template, PHP, and CSS customizations.

Install it if you plan to edit theme templates, add PHP snippets to functions.php, or maintain other code-level customizations. When MyListing is updated, files in the child theme stay in place.

If you only change settings in Theme Tools, the Customizer, Elementor, or listing types, the child theme is optional.

The my-listing-child.zip file is included in the complete MyListing package available from your ThemeForest Downloads page.

  1. Make sure the main MyListing theme is already installed. It can remain inactive while you complete the next steps.
  2. Go to Appearance → Themes → Add New Theme → Upload Theme.
  3. Choose my-listing-child.zip, then select Install Now.
  4. Activate MyListing Child.
  5. Load the front end and confirm that the site looks the same as it did with the parent theme active.

WordPress must keep both themes installed. The child theme should be active, while the parent MyListing theme supplies the files it inherits.
