Create a custom listing taxonomy

Taxonomies group listings into reusable terms. MyListing includes Categories, Regions, and Tags, and lets you create additional hierarchical taxonomies such as Brand, Cuisine, or Property Feature.

Choose a taxonomy when visitors need to filter efficiently by the value or open a dedicated term result page. A Select, Multiselect, Checkboxes, or Radio Buttons custom field is sufficient when the value is only displayed and does not need taxonomy behavior.

  1. Go to Listings → Taxonomies and select Add Taxonomy.
  2. Enter Label and a unique Taxonomy Slug, then select Save Changes.
  3. Edit each relevant listing type. In Fields, drag the new taxonomy from Preset fields into Used fields.
  4. Configure its term-selection template and add terms from its new submenu under Listings.
  5. Display it with a Terms block under Single Page → Content & Tabs.
  6. To place it on cards, add a Terms section under Preview Card → Footer sections.
  7. To filter it, add a Dropdown or Checkboxes filter under Search Forms.

The taxonomy also becomes available as an Explore tab, map-marker taxonomy, and similar-listing match condition.

Custom taxonomy permalink bases can be adjusted under Settings → Permalinks after the taxonomy exists. Saving the taxonomy settings flushes rewrite rules; save Permalinks again after changing a base if an existing term URL returns 404.
