Claim listings

A claim transfers an existing listing to a logged-in user who represents its owner. MyListing can approve the request immediately or hold it for review, and the claim can use a free or paid listing package.

  1. Go to Listings → Settings and find the Claim Listings section on that page.
  2. Enable Enable Claim Listings. The theme default is On.
  3. Create a normal WordPress page containing only the [claim_listing] shortcode. Do not edit this page with Elementor.
  4. Return to Listings → Settings and select that page under Claim Listing Page. A selected page is required for claim URLs to work.
  5. Choose Require admin approval of all new claim submissions. The default is On. Also choose Mark claimed listings as verified, which is On by default.
  6. Edit each applicable listing type and open General → Claim Form. Add any Text, File, Number, or Textarea fields needed to evaluate a request.
  7. Open Single Page → Quick Actions, add Claim listing, and update the type.

Claim Form is registered only when claims are enabled and WooCommerce is available. The quick action is rendered only when both the page URL and listing eligibility checks succeed.

If paid listings are disabled globally, or Enable paid listing packages is disabled for the listing type, the user submits the claim without choosing a plan or entering checkout.

To sell claims:

  1. Create a Listing Package product, or a Listing Subscription when WooCommerce Subscriptions is active.
  2. Enable Use for Claim? on the product. Enable Don’t use for add listing? as well if it should be claim-only.
  3. Add the product to the listing type under General → Packages.

Only attached products enabled for claims, plus eligible packages the user already owns, are offered. A positive-price product goes through WooCommerce checkout. A zero-priced product normally skips checkout, unless Disable repeat purchase? is enabled or code changes the mylisting\packages\free\skip-checkout filter.

During a paid claim, MyListing keeps the submitted claim-field values in a one-hour transient while the customer checks out. If checkout is abandoned or delayed beyond that window, have the user restart the claim so those details are not lost.

The Claim listing action is available only when all of these checks pass:

  • claims are enabled and a claim page is selected;
  • the listing is Published and is not already verified/claimed;
  • the current user is not the listing author;
  • a logged-in user has a role allowed to add listings; and
  • the listing has no assigned user package, or its assigned package has Is claimable? enabled.

Claims always require the customer to log in. MyListing also prevents the same user from creating another claim for the same listing, even if the earlier request was declined.

Open Listings → Claim Entries. Each entry shows the listing, claimant, and user package. Its Claim Status can be Pending, Approved, or Declined. Open the entry to review the configured Claim Form fields and use Approve claim or Decline Claim.

Approving changes the listing author to the claimant. When a purchased package is attached and paid packages are enabled for the type, approval also publishes the listing and assigns the package, including its duration, priority, verification, limit count, and claimability. Without a paid package flow, approval refreshes the listing expiry from the global Listing Duration. If Mark claimed listings as verified is enabled, approval also marks it verified.

When claim approval is not required, the same approval work runs as soon as the claim record is created. When an administrator changes a status, Send claimer status updates via email. is checked by default; clear it before saving to suppress that status email.

After submission, the customer is redirected to the claim detail. They can return through My Account → My Listings by choosing Claim requests in the status filter. The endpoint shows each request’s date and status but is intentionally not a permanent account-menu item.

  • mylisting/claim:submitted runs after the claim record is created.
  • mylisting/admin/claim:updated receives the claim ID and whether the administrator left the email checkbox enabled.
  • mylisting/payments/claim/order-processed runs after a claim package order has been processed.
  • mylisting/listing-types/claim-fields can register another claim-field class.
