Promoted listings
A promotion is a separate WooCommerce purchase that temporarily changes an existing listing’s numeric priority. It does not replace the listing’s submission package or exempt the listing from search filters.
WooCommerce core is required. Promotion packages do not require WooCommerce Subscriptions or another paid extension, and they do not depend on Enable Paid Listings.
Create a Promotion Package product
Section titled “Create a Promotion Package product”- Go to Products → Add New and enter the product name and regular price.
- Set Product data to Promotion Package.
- Enter Promotion duration (in days). A blank or zero value falls back to 14 days.
- Enter Promotion priority. A blank or zero value falls back to
2. - Publish the product. Create additional products for other durations or priority levels.
Products are listed to the customer from lowest to highest price. Priority 0 is Normal, 1 is Featured, and 2 is the standard Promoted level. Higher numbers rank ahead of lower numbers wherever the active query honors listing priority.
Customer purchase and package use
Section titled “Customer purchase and package use”Published listings that the logged-in user can edit expose Promote under My Account → My Listings. The promotion dialog offers available products and any unused promotion packages the user already owns.
Buying for a listing sends the customer to the cart when another item is already present, or directly to checkout otherwise. A promotion product requires an account and disables guest checkout. MyListing creates and activates the package when the order reaches Processing or Completed; cancellation expires packages created by that order.
A Promotion Package bought directly from the shop has no listing attached. It remains under Owned packages in the promotion dialog until its owner selects it for a listing. A listing with an active promotion shows Promoted instead of offering another one, so promotions do not stack on the same listing.
Customers can see active packages under My Account → Promotions and cancel one early. Activation saves the listing’s previous priority; normal cancellation or expiry restores that value.
Administrator controls
Section titled “Administrator controls”Open Users → Promotion Packages to inspect active records, or choose Promote a Listing to create one manually. The current editor exposes Promoted Listing, Promoted Until, Listing Priority, User, Product, and Order. User, product, and order are useful for attribution; the listing, end date, and priority control the actual promotion.
To set a priority without a timed package, go to Listings → All Listings, edit the listing, and use the Priority panel. Its choices are Normal, Featured, Promoted, and Custom priority.
Changing the Priority panel while a timed package is active displays a confirmation because it overrides the package value. The package still retains the priority that existed when it started and can restore that saved value when it expires, so avoid manual priority edits during an active promotion unless you also inspect the package.
How priority affects results
Section titled “How priority affects results”Promotion changes ranking only among listings that already match the listing type, text, taxonomy, location, and other active filters.
- Under Listing Types → Search Forms → Listing Order, expand an ordering option and enable Ignore listing priority when that option must follow only its configured clauses.
- The Elementor Listing Feed widget has its own Order by priority first? setting, enabled by default.
- Custom queries must explicitly include MyListing’s priority ordering if they should honor promotions.
