Listing Terms widget
The widget formerly called Listing Categories is now MyListing → Listing Terms. It can display listing types, categories, regions, tags, or terms from any custom listing taxonomy.
Add and configure the widget
Section titled “Add and configure the widget”- Open a page with Elementor and add MyListing → Listing Terms.
- Select the Taxonomy to display. Categories is the default; the other choices are Regions, Tags, Listing Types, and each registered custom listing taxonomy.
- Use the selector for that taxonomy—such as Select Terms, Select Regions, or Select Listing Types—to add items in the exact order they should appear. Empty terms remain available for selection.
- Choose a Template and set Column count and Column gap. The defaults are three Desktop columns, three Laptop columns, two Tablet columns, one Mobile column, and a 20-pixel gap.
- Configure the overlay or template-specific style controls.
- Update the page and test every card link.
Taxonomy cards use each term’s name, image, color, text color, and icon. Counts come from MyListing’s stored per-listing-type totals and fall back to the WordPress term count when those totals are unavailable. Listing-type cards use the type’s plural name, default cover, and icon; they do not display counts. The Cards template uses MyListing’s built-in pink and white colors for listing types rather than a per-type card color.
Templates
Section titled “Templates”Taxonomy terms support five templates:
- Default
- Alternate
- Cards
- Cards Alternate
- Hierarchy
Listing types support the first four. The Hierarchy template is available only for taxonomies and is useful when the selected items are parent terms. It shows their direct child terms, counts, and icons beneath each parent.
Default is the initial template. For taxonomy terms using Cards Alternate, Background Size controls how the term image fills its card. That control is not exposed when Listing Types is selected. Overlay type defaults to Gradient and can be changed to Solid Color where the template uses an image overlay.
Hierarchy behavior
Section titled “Hierarchy behavior”Hierarchy loads only direct children of each selected parent; it does not recursively show grandchildren. Children are sorted alphabetically. Hide empty terms removes children whose calculated listing count is zero. Independently of that switch, MyListing omits a selected parent card when no children remain, unless custom code changes the mylisting/categories-widget/show-empty filter.
Hierarchy styling
Section titled “Hierarchy styling”When Hierarchy is selected, the Style tab adds controls for:
- card radius and parent-header padding, background, text, typography, and icon size;
- child-grid padding and background;
- child-chip background, hover background, border, radius, padding, typography, text colors, and icon size;
- stacking each child chip on its own row;
- hiding parent and child icons.
If an image-based template appears empty or inconsistent, edit the relevant listing type or taxonomy term and confirm that its cover or term image, icon, and colors are configured.
